Frozen Party Idea – How to make Frozen Popcorn

Disney Frozen Popcorn

Anything blue in my house the last few month is now somehow linked to the Disney show Frozen.  My kids LOVE this show, so when we had our  Frozen party of course we had to have blue popcorn.  I thought I would share the recipe with you in case you wanted to make it as well.

You will need

1 small package Jello 3oz size (store brand works too)
1 stick butter
4 Tbsp corn syrup
1/2 cup white sugar
6-8 cups popcorn cereal (best to use airpop, with no butter)
Put popcorn in a large mixing bowl.  Prepare a large cookie sheet with non stick spray and set aside.

In a large sauce pan on the stove melt butter over medium heat.  Once butter is melted add dry jello mix, corn syrup and sugar.  Stir well to incorporate the jello and make sure the sugar dissolves.  Bring to a boil over medium  heat, boil for 4 minutes stir the whole time to prevent burning on the bottom.   Pour over popcorn, and mix till well coated.  Spread out on prepared cookie sheet in an even layer.  Bake in the oven at 250 degrees for 2 minutes, stir twice to help it cook even.  Let cool, stir to prevent it sticking together.

Frozen Jello Cake

If you have never had Jello cake then you have got to try it! It is so good, I know it sounds a little strange but just trust me… you will love it.  Bake your cake as normal (we just use the box mix because it is the easiest).  Allow your cake to cool, use a wooden spoon and poke holes into your cake.  Next take 2 small boxes of jello powder, mix them with 2  1/2 cups of hot water. Once they are well mixed pour the jello mixture over the cake, try to fill the holes if you can.

Cover with plastic wrap and put in refrigerator for at least 4 hours. Before you serve it, frost with an 8 oz cool whip.
